About & methodology

WattCost estimates the running cost of household appliances using a simple formula: watts ÷ 1000 × hours per day × price per kWh.

Wattage ranges come from manufacturer specifications and published measurements, and represent typical models rather than any single product. Hours per day are typical usage assumptions you can override on every page. Electricity prices are average residential rates for each region and are refreshed periodically.

All figures are estimates. For exact costs, check the label on your appliance and the unit rate on your electricity bill.
